Lucius Annaeus Seneca The home port of the Voice over IP course is a Laboratory N211. The Lectures run in a lecture room N201 in winter semester since 2003 . The limitation of this course is 60 students. The lab N211 is located at the Department of telecommunications in building N of university campus in Ostrava Poruba (click on the map and find the build. No. 17). This lab offers a multifuncional using so its equipment is used as Laboratory of Voice over IP, Connecting Systems and PBX's. The lab is composed of three parts (click schema to enlarge, a schema of lab and a its cabling plan). The first part contains a area which is determined for students including the twelve wokplaces where every workplace provides a place for two students with a PC and a little patchpanel including eight RJ 45 sockets, the sockets from No.1 to No.4 are used for phones and from No.5 to No.8 for Ethernet, all cabling is made in in cat. 5e.. The PC contains two partitions (for Linux and Windows) and student can upload the selected partition on server as a image (with the aid of G4L), the next class the students can download selected image from server, renew the last state and continue in their work. technology (hipath2000, 3000, 4000), a legacy PBX Hicom 300 with 40
x BRI and 10 x PRI ISDN interfaces, rack with patchpanels
interconnecting cabling between technological part and the tables of
the workplaces and then three racks with the routers, swithes, rack
PC's. The third part of laboratory is a consultation room
where students can
discuss each other or with a lecturer their projects and also prove
their knowledge during a exam, this room is used especially for
